About the Event

Our guest speakers are:

  • Phannika Finnerty, a 15-year-old who is the current City of Bendigo Young Citizen of the Year and who took part in the RYPEN camp recently. Phannika is a quiet, but energetic young lady, who is very active in volunteering with the Dementia Alliance and has started a "Youth Buddy" program to help young people interact with older people experiencing Dementia. Phannika will be speaking about her weekend, at the RYPEN camp, the Dementia Buddy program and her experiences as Young Citizen of the Year. Some information about Phannika can be accessed at the URL below.

  • Sandra Slattery is Phannika's grandmother and the Founder and President of Dementia Alliance, which is an organisation promoting the design and delivery of innovative dementia care, helping people age closer to their homes in Rural areas.  Reflections at Eppalock is a wonderful local initiative, helping people with Dementia and their carers.
