An Artist, A Rotary Club and $87,000 in Drought Aid

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

A wonderful project of the Rotary Club of Bendigo. This article is in the national magazine “Rotary Down Under” last month and currently on the District 9800 website.

Terry Jarvis, one of Australia’s most exceptional watercolour artists, and his partner Michelle Kent, wondered how they could help during one of the toughest droughts in Australia’s history. So, in November 2019, they stuck to what they knew and generated the ‘Life on the Land – Our Farming Heroes’ painting exhibition at the Bendigo Town Hall.

In order to stage the exhibition and organise the distribution of funds, Terry enlisted the help of the Rotary Club of Bendigo. Since then $87,000 has been raised and is being distributed via the Rotary ‘Life on the Land – Drought Relief Appeal’.

Congratulations and gratitude to Terry Jarvis, Brian Figg and all committee members and club members for this huge Australia wide initiative.
