"It's in the Bag" project helping vulnerable women

Updated: Sep 17, 2020

Thanks to the generosity of the Bendigo community, the Rotary Club of Bendigo filled over 80 pre-loved handbags with essential items to be given to women in need in the Bendigo region via Share the Dignity.

Organising Committee member, Kim Lowe, said this is the fourth year that the Rotary Club of Bendigo has successfully ran the project,

We have been overwhelmed with the community support for this project, and it is so good knowing that we are making a small difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable community members.

Rotary members and Bendigo residents were invited to donate a pre-loved handbag or backpack, purchase some toiletries, or donate some money to purchase toiletries, for women in need.

80 handbags were filled with essentials including shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, sanitry items, shower gel, cleansing wipes and tissues.

Local pharmacies and supermarkets also got on board donating some items to fill the bags.

We thank everyone who played a role in making this project such as success, and we look forward to providing our support again in years to come.
